LEVEL 1
Beginnner Level 1 – Limited vocabulary – Usually a new arrival with limited English learning or speaking practice.

Beginner high Level 2 – Vocabulary is limited to commonly used words, understanding some directions, and how to complete homework assignments.

LEVEL 3
Intermediate Level 3 – Rapidly improving vocabulary, understands and participates in class activities, follows directions and will respond in class.
LEVEL 4
Intermediate high level 4 – Can participate in classroom and social activities, continually developing his/her knowledge of vocabulary and American culture. Still exhibits considerable accent, but grammar and vocabulary errors are declining.
ADVANCED LEVEL
Advanced Level – Can participate in classroom and social activities. Can read with help of a dictionary, writing skills have improved while an accent may still be present.

About tutoring sercives
Kitty's Learning Center (KLC) offers tutoring services in English, math and other homework subjects. Tutoring can be offered privately or in group formats (for example: a study group covering the same subject or homework assignment). Research shows that group work is a positive way to reinforce content knowledge. Choose a format that works best and KLC will facilitate your needs.
Subjects
Math: KLC offers a wide range of tutoring and development for standard testing skills from grade levels Pre-K to 12th grade.
English: Tutoring for English includes writing training, grammatical instruction and testing (GED, SAT, ACT, Teacher Certification Prep) assistance.

ESL
What is the meaning of ESL?
English as a Second Language (ESL): means to teach in English to non-native English speakers or students.
What kinds of ESL programs are available for adults at KLC?
General ESL and Life skills classes that focus on development of English language skills.
Family ESL literacy program provides English language and literacy instruction to adults and children for example: mother and or father with young children (Special scheduling is required).
Pre-academic ESL program to prepare learners for further education and training in higher education institutions, vocational education classes, and GED classes.
Can I pay weekly?
Yes, arrangements will be made with the office manager.
How can I get discount on my monthly fees?
By referring someone to the ESL program. After their tuition is paid in full you will receive a discount of $100.00.
Tutoring
What happens if I miss my scheduled session?
If you cannot keep your scheduled class, contact KLC at least three hours before your tutoring session. Call (832) 653-2092 leave a message with the office manager to allow time to contact your tutor.

How long is a tutoring session?
Sessions are scheduled for an hour and a half.
Can I schedule a tutoring session for a longer period?
Sessions are limited to one hour to allow students time to apply the concepts covered.
What options are available for online tutoring?
Yes, students can receive online assistance via Skype. KLC is currently developing an online student portal.
What will I need to bring with me or do before my tutoring session?
Bring relevant course materials.
Assignments you are having difficulties with.
Course textbooks and exercises.
Notes taken during your school class time.
Complete as much of the assignment before your arrive.
Come prepared to actively participate in the session.
